Standing Tall

Last night I screamed at you.

My words:

Articulate,

Fitting,

like a puzzle.

Somehow somewhere within me

Gathered strength.

The anguish of tyranny,

Met dying resiliency,

The dam broke,

I snapped–

A splintered twig.

Finally I stood tall,

A pedestal of truth,

A lasting sting.

Alas victory is fleeting,

Disappearing all too easily,

With a fluttering of eyelids,

Roused from sleep.

Defeated

A pretty girl,

A sad girl,

Lonely and afraid

And lost.

What will we find,

In each other?

Create,

Together?

Destroy,

Yet another?

Gnaw,

Chew,

Burn.
