Considering Moving

Considering moving.

City girl seeking a slow-down, a

Quiet pace,

Green grassy fields,

Watch my dog run free

While I cherish outdoors,

Bask in nature’s splendour,

Find some calm.

But it’s the flip side, always, that

Scares me.

Can’t leave myself behind.

Move a million miles only to find fear,

Panic,

Depression,

What’s the point?

Problem always is you never know:

Flourish or Flounder,

Only one way to find out.

Absurdity

I’m starting to understand
The Absurdity of life.

There’s no use
Tracing your stencil,
Wearing thick-rimmed
Glasses.

No point trying to
See and
Create the things
You want.

Bad things don’t happen to
Good people—
Neither one exists.

Expectations of perfection,
Fairness,
Justice—
Abstract notions we cling to,
Making sense.

Seeking Leaders

Tangled-wire mess,
Neurons
And
Cells,
Memories
And
Experiences,
Meld together.

Tornadoes
And
Storms,
Missing shelves
And
Drawers,
Seeking patterns
And
Systems
And
Order.

Rulers overthrown,
Empires forlorn,
Chasing
Masters,
And
Captains
And
Commanders.

Principles
And
Decrees,
Regulations
And
Fees,
Guidance to quell fear,
At a cost.
